Requirements:

• Be 15 years of age prior to final day of class.
• Successfully complete prerequisite swim test.
• Attend ALL class dates and times.
• Demonstrate competency in all required skills, activities and final skill scenarios.
• Correctly answer 80% of questions in each of the two sections of the final exam.

Prerequisite Swim Test (Completed on the first day of class) :

• Swim a swim-tread-swim sequence alternating between breast stroke and freestyle.  Water Front requires a slightly longer swim distance.
• A 2 minute water tread, without the use of arms (arms tucked under armpits).
• Retrieve a 10 lb. diving brick from the bottom of the pool, return it to the far side without letting go of the brick with either hand and without allowing the brick to submerge, completed within 1 minute and 40 secs.
• Waterfront Lifeguarding—Swim 5 yds., submerge and retrieve 3 dive rings placed 5 yds. apart in 4-7 ft. of water and swim 5 yds. Back to side of pool.

This recertification course refreshes a current Lifeguarding Certification to be valid for another 2 years, as well as refreshing a CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers certification for another year (Lifeguards in NYS Require yearly CPR/AED Recertification.

REQUIREMENTS

• Must hold and demonstrate proof of current Lifeguard Certification. If lapsed more than 30 days, participant must retake the lifeguarding course in its entirety.
